’14 F150 Ecoboost

A while back I had an opportunity I couldn’t pass up to acquire a 2014 F150 Ecoboost. While the truck was more or less what I wanted, there were a few things that needed to be modified to suit my needs

-Offroad: RCI Skidplates. They make a 1/4″ aluminum plate skid plate system for this truck that blows the factory skid plates away. I do a bit of off-roading/4wheeling and this is cheep insurance

-Towing: Cooper AT3 LT (E) Tires. The truck came with “P Metric” tires, which are not up to the task for towing heavy. I also installed a set of roadmaster active suspension coil springs to work alongside my leaf springs. These things are pretty slick and make the truck feel much more stable when dealing with a heavy load. On a side note, it also took care of the wheel hop that the ecoboost F150s have.

-Cooling: Mishimoto Front Mount Intercooler. Towing up grades in 90+ (up to 115!) degree temps would cause the factory intercooler to heat soak quickly. This hopefully will resolve the issue. I installed it earlier this month and haven’t towed the trailer with it yet. If this doesn’t solve the problems, I’m going to look into methanol injection. The issue only creeps up while towing heavy up grade; soon as I let off the gas the temp drops again. Heatsoak is a known issue on the ecoboost F150s; hopefully I get it ironed out sooner than later

-Entertainment: I DESPISE the Sync2 system that came with my truck. The Sync3 system is a night and day upgrade, the fact that it works with apple CarPlay is just the icing on the cake. I used Forscan software to program the radio to work with my truck; it’s worked great since the day I installed it. This is the radio the truck should have come with.
